Running into a strange issue..

I sort of made a reverse matcap thing, where a gray product render + AI generated normalmap are used to create a HDRI 360 map that has a no questions asked reconstruction of the light..

At the end of the process I have a sphere that has the guessed light intensity in a point attribute, it's values go from 0.0 to around 15.0

So I figured I put a cam in the middle, set it to polar lens and render out a 360 HDRI for reuse, that works fine only the EXR that is saved is clamped between for 0.0 to 1.0, as are live renders and render gallery renders. So I suspect it's some Karma setting/issue and an file format issue.

As a material it's a simple mtlxsurface_unlit with the material_properties wiring the point attribute in the emission:
(when I make the emission_color on the mtlxsurface, which is I guess multiplied with the emission amount, darker I see the highlights fade nicely, so the attribute is read in full range.

So where is this clipping happening?

Small update.. rendering to mplay does keep the full dynamic range, so it might be in the saving to exr part then..

check the limits tab, there is a clamp there on direct/indirect samples
