i don,t no but maybe in this project houdini have bug!
after collision between cylinder and sphere , cylinder never stop and it spin and spin!
even in substeps 500 we have this problem too! :shock:

@jerry7 & Joker386 - bug reported - happens on OsX too.

@ NimaNoan - switch to RBD from Bullet. No problem there.

seems in simulation houdini have serious problem in this project i use RBD engine instead of bullet but after 500 frame with substep bettwen 1 and 100 cylinder never stop!

Simulations need to be correctly set up.

Change your Cylinder from Primitive to Poly

Testing your file in H13.0.371 the cylinder does fall over.

i use houdini 13.0.343 maybe have some different with houdini 13.0.371.
what's different between Primitive and Poly?in bullet we had Primitive cylinder too.

Always worth testing with the latest builds.

Primitive cylinder, sphere etc. are mathematical equations. They have a single point, try selecting them with the point select tool, and are very light weight geometry to store and process.

why in houdini when we increase bounce the distance between two object in collision will increase even in high substep?
have we relationship or formula between bounce and collision?

Do you have a file that shows this? I imagine that you are getting more bounce and you only see the result per-frame, so it just looks larger.

Not sure if it will work but you can change the playback framerate in the playback options. Try setting it to 0.1 and see if you can see it animation slowed down.

in my last attachment (Never Stop in RBD.hip) if you set bounce for sphere to 0.5 collision distance between sphere and cylinder will increase.
how can we fix that?

only had a quick play - using Bullet and setting the cylinder to polygon fixed the gap. Sorry didn't have time to solve the RBD

Hi Nima - the file displays fine in the latest production build Houdini 13.0.376.

It's probably best to use the latest version when encountering issues.

finally i get houidini 13.0.376.
i stiil have these problem in last production build so i change open GL3.3 to GL2.1 and i took picture for bad fracture in houdini in same number of point in scatter node.
still it's not a bug?
i attach project before and i just change number of point in scatter node to 187 for appear this problem.

Can't test GL3 on Os X currently
