Houdini 21 Keynote
SideFX is proud to bring you the Houdini 21 Keynote straight from SIGGRAPH 2025. This presentation explores some of Houdini’s most recent improvements and workflows.
KineFX rigging and animation now includes a new motion mixer, animation and clip catalog, Autorig Builder and more. The muscle system has easier setups for characters and creatures and there are lots of example rigs for you to explore. MetaHumans can be imported into Houdini via an Epic-provided plugin developed in partnership with SideFX.
Copernicus now includes a sparse GPU Pyro FX solver, interactive handles, and reaction diffusion effects. There are texture baking solutions in both Copernicus and Karma. Terrain has a robust erosion node and the heightfields can be enhanced using Copernicus.
Solaris has new Shot Builder tools, Live Rendering to the gallery, and Karma has support for Hydra 2 and Gaussian Splats. Houdini 21 has production-ready support for Vulkan, including Realtime Ambient Occlusion and Geometry Lights, as well as MoltenVK support for MacOS users.
VFX tools include a robust set of preset recipes for Pyro FX and enhancements to the MPM solver. Houdini 21 includes native built-in Machine Learning tools for Style Transfer, Skin and Organic Tissue Deformation, Point Cloud Surfacing and Pyro upresing, as well as complete node setups for training with your own datasets.
And there are hundreds of enhancements beyond what is covered in this Keynote. Houdini 21 will be released in late August.
