Isn't 11.1 supposed to be available for download today? The latest version I see on the Download page is 11.0.834. Has anybody else seen download links to 11.1?

Regards,
Mats

Houdini 11.1 will be available for download starting the week of August 15, 2011 at www.sidefx.com and can be downloaded by all Houdini and Houdini Apprentice customers.

I'm guessing ‘the week of’ deliberately doesn't state a specific day for a reason.

Cheers,

hmm… ~150 ms for bgeo load verus ~40ms per alembic frame… very nice, I didn't expect Alembic was faster than current bgeo in Houdini.

The end of mixed pipeline nightmare is close!

Is your point count changing? I wouldn't be surprised if loading Alembic point caches are faster because it doesn't need to reload the topology every frame. Try doing a test with MDD too. Of course, MDD/bgeo doesn't do “data de-duplication” (or any type of compression) so if your data is able to support that, things can be faster.
