Are there any videos on rigging, that are up to date with the current set up?

very little has changed in the past few versions - you should be able to follow tutorials from H9-12 without many issues…if any.

I have found plenty of recent tutorials on the auto rigs. But nothing really on rigging from scratch except those from 3dbuzz. Are they still applicable to Houdini 12.5? Am I going to be confused because menus have changed or such? I'm a bit cautious to spend $300 on outdated tutorials.

Thanks for any advice.

CMIvfx has a new tutorial on bipedal character rigging in houdini.
Also the 3Dbuzz series with 5 volumes is about $179, which is not much considering most courses at CGsociety cost around $600 each.
I agree with arctor that not a lot has change in houdini's interface from v9 to 12.5 and specially for rigging purposes you shouldn't get lost that easily.

I purchased the Bipedal rigging tutorial on cmiVFX, but once again it's about using the auto rigging tool.

It's good to hear that the 3dbuzz tutorials are still applicable to the latest incarnation of Houdini. But Sidefx should seriously considering introducing their own “rigging principles” tutorial series for beginner to intermediate users.
