Hello Houdini users,

Does anyone know any render houses that have Houdini licenses AND offer a student discount? In a crunch with my thesis animation and we only have so many licenses here at SVA.

Thanks!

Hello,

Have you looked at Houdini on the Cloud?

Here is the user guide for how it works, how to get started, etc:
http://www.sidefx.com/images/stories/news/HQueue_Cloud/hqueue_cloud_guide_09nov12.pdf [sidefx.com]

Basically, you can distribute a render across several machines on the Amazon EC2 cloud.

Cheers,
Rob

Thanks Rob. I saw that and it's really not terrible, but could add up pretty quickly with the amount I have to render. I'm looking at almost 12 minutes/frame on a 32 core machine for about 1400 frames. On this machine, it'll take me 280 hrs, but on 8 cores.. roughly say 1000 hours? That'll cost $2000!! I might as well invest that money into my own renderfarm.

Definitely gonna need a house with a student discount…

Hey,
I' am also looking for HD Renderfarms - i didn't find one by searching

Amazon EC2 is not really an alternative as describe in the posts before.

Which Renderfarm supports Houdini for simulation and rendering?

Thanks!

None.
The amazon houdini cloud uses only one machine from the pool to cook your stuff.
For all I know there is no publicly available farm offering full cooking/hbatch/distributed simulation.
