LOL. I didn't know that this fight repeated! Same conversation, different format, similar progression, 5 years earlier: http://www.asmail.be/msg0054949323.html [asmail.be]

Back then though, Photoshop didn't quite support HDR images yet, so it couldn't precisely round trip because it would also clamp the colors during the un-premult [asmail.be].

The current Photoshop behaviour from the the Adobe forums thread sounds precisely correct to me. I haven't used Photoshop in a very long time now, don't they have a way to just unpremult (or copy) the transparency into a (photoshop) alpha channel? Sounds like that's just what the poster wanted.

That's bizarre. Transparency/alpha is a very topical real gotcha!

Yep, that's the way it works today.

Out of curiosity.

Do anyone know anyone that use Houdini for Archviz? Was wondering since I do not know how Mantra is going to work for that.

Best regards!

Hmmm , :?
Mantra is really powerful engine for rendering specially on VFX.
One of the Impressive feature of the Mantra is supporting Micropolygon ,Raytracing and Physically Based Rendering
It is support all of the interesting Rendering features like AO , GI , SSS , Photon Map Rendering , Really Good Displacement even on Volumetric Phenomenon like Explosions , etc
I think Mantra is the BEST for rendering Volumetric Phenomenon :!:

All of the Mantra's materials are editable (something like Open-Source) and you can dive inside these materials and make your custom material without writing any special code ,Just with VEX

Mantra can read all of the attributes from your scene and you can use these in your material

But I think learning of the Mantra is harden than some other Rendering Engine like Mental Ray

Houdini's Material Library is limit and you have to make special materials with yourself (Of course you can find too many materials on Orbolt library)
Of course “Mantra Surface ” is pretty like MIA Material in the Mental ray !

Maybe properties of Mantra , Lights ,camera and Materials is more complex than some other Engines like Arnold or Mental Ray

Conclusion :
1. Mantra is good choice for VFX ,But Only about Architect ,Maybe not good choice for beginners , But if you try to learn it ,Maybe Yes

2. If you learn it and use it ,So You can make any things that you have in your mind ,Yes Anything!

*** This is just my experiences and idea ,So maybe I was Wrong *** 8)

How can we work with compagny like them, this was 2011's

Today in 2014 in last adobe After effect CC the bug is still here.

I hesitated a long time before giving up posting this one but today again Adobe do not correctly record transparent colors on 32-bit images, what we see in the viewport is not what is saved !

Sounds like you'll be joining the trend of having your computer free of both Autodesk and Adobe software

There are no basic rigging tutorials. I mean there are some for the autorigger but none (free) for basic rigging. The only ones I could find are on 3dbuzz and requires an investment.

Very soon you will have one.

I am easing into Houdini for my main 3D app for everything once again. Now, are there any viable retopology workflows in Houdini or should I just forget it until they fix the snapping in general? I tried with primitive snapping and all that, but for some reason it bogs down somewhat insanely when trying to move a point.
