Hello,
I'm using Houdini Apprentice 7.0.231 and Mantra, but I've read something in a tutorial about RenderMan and MentalRay. Is there a link for downloading them, because otherwise are a little bit expensive !
Thanks in advance!
Link to download Renderman?

Some free or open source RenderMan implementations
3Delight - http://www.3delight.com [3delight.com]
aqsis - http://www.aqsis.com [aqsis.com]
Pixie - http://www.cs.berkeley.edu/%7Eokan/Pixie/pixie.htm [cs.berkeley.edu]
jrman - http://jrman.sourceforge.net/ [jrman.sourceforge.net]
As well, there are also commercial alternatives to prman
RenderDotC - http://www.dotcsw.com [dotcsw.com] - $500-$2994
Air - http://www.sitexgraphics.com [sitexgraphics.com] - $450+
I may have missed some.
Rick has a lot of links at http://www.dotcsw.com/links.html#renderers [dotcsw.com]

Thanks for telling me that those renderers won't run with the apprentice version of Houdini, and for those links.
But, in the first place, sorry for not specifying what type of software I'm
looking for. I didn't realised that it would be interpreted that way.

And posting a request for pirate software on a software vendor's website is… scummy, at best.

I'm not sure if it's illegal to use BMRT (Blue Moon Rendering Tools) since it was adopted along with the rest of the products Exluna developed and published which was then later acquired by nVidia, I still saw it back-up'ed at various (non ‘warez’) sites; well if it's not illegal, look for it in Google or so.
I used to really like that particular RenderMan-compatible implementation, especially in combination with Houdini; the RMan ROP handles it very well, make sure to render/export as an older type of PRMan, surely as far as the script file (RIB) goes.

I'm not sure it's illegal, per se - I think the official word is “discontinued”. It's no longer supported, upgraded, or to be distributed. However, I doubt this has any effect whatsoever on actually *using* it, if you have a copy. The compiled thing was free for personal use, you grabbed it with that contract, screw Nvidia, basically.
I'm not sure just how useful it is, though, in that state. It's pretty old now, no new stuff having been introduced. I'll bet some other newer, freely distributed renderers are more interesting. It was pretty cool in it's day, though.
Don't get me started….
Cheers,
J.C.
