Hi

Currently running Houdini Indie in Windows 10 but considering going to a dual boot system with Linux (Centos).

Since SESI doesn't officially support this I want to make sure I don't encounter any strange license server issues when trying to install and license Houdini twice on the same machine.

Can anyone who has done this offer any tips or things to be aware of?

Hi
Iv'e tried this and I couldn't figure out how to make it work. The challenge is to setup both installs in such a way that they have the same host id. I'm no Linux expert so I didn't manage to pull this off. Might be possible for all i know

I'm curious to know if this is possible too…

But I suspect it's not because that ‘host id’ would be something coming from the hardware level like a ‘hook’ into the motherboard being used?

Otherwise one could simply do a mirror copy of their hard drive onto other machines for the same license.

Of course if there is also some initial online ‘check’ when you run ‘first’ open a Houdini file too?

According to the documentation Linux installs are tied to the MAC address, so wouldn't this mean that no extra work is necessary? The License server in linux is pointing to the exact same hardware as the windows license server.
