Point deform is not behaving as expected? Any ideas on why?

I am trying to use point deform with low res geo to drive the high res simulation. But as soon as I use the point deform node, the geo goes wild.

In the same amount of time, the high res geo travels nearly double the distance as the low res geo.

Anybody know why this might be happening? how i could minimize it?

your hires is probably already animated, try adding the same frame hold timeshift you have on second input to the first

If that doesn't work, make sure your geo does not have an id attribute. If so, it's used somehow to match input geo… (this feature was introduced sometime in 17.5 I believe).
