Hello, Solaris newbie here, I'm trying to convert packed primitives to a USD point instancer to ultimately export to Clarisse. Everything works fine, except I somehow lose the Cd attribute on my points to create variation among instances, although the Cd attribute packed inside the instances work fine and are usable in Clarisse. Any ideas?

Basically, I would like to mimic the behavior of the Point Instancer LOP, where it is possible to copy point attributes from the instancer to the instances. Anyway to do this with the SOP import LOP when converting packed primitives to point instancers?

Hi Tanto,

Did you ever get this figured out?

I am trying to get a Crowd sim into Solaris/Lops/USD.
The Crowd sim is made out of packed primitives, so any information you have on this subject could be very useful.
Thanks a lot,

Dan

Any answer to this?
I'd like to set up my Packed Primmies in SOPs.

Thanks,

This is working for me with Karma and displayColor on point instances.

Thank you. I see that your file works.
I think we're not supposed to see the color in the OpenGL viewport then.
Also I do not convert Cd to displayColor manually, will test that out also.

What's also interesting: I had to install a daily build of Houdini in order to get the mtlx nodes you used. It seems SideFX is adding nodes as we speak! Great.

I see it's also not supported on Karma XPU (Alpha) yet.
