Moving licences between computers

Hey there,

I've got Houdini Indie and installed it on my custom PC rig and my Razer laptop. However, sometimes I do travel light, in which case I've got my MacBook Air with me, which is fine for general Houdini work (no heavy sims or renders of course).

I know SideFX isn't as 'smooth' as Adobe when it comes to changing licences between machines (and thank the Lord for it, since Adobe is a mess in all other ways), but I remember reading that you could only reassign a licence to another computer a couple of times throughout the year (or a couple of years?) until you couldn't move it at all anymore.

With Houdini's new launcher and the way that licence management is a lot more streamlined now, I was wondering if those days are gone and I could swap between machines as I please, or if I'm still 'stuck' with Houdini on my two machines.

Any firsthand experience would be much appreciated

Hi Ferdinand,

I think SideFX offers login licensing for personal licenses:

From my experience it works reliably on one machine at a time.
