I was attempting to download Apprentice when IE crashed. I already registered for Apprentice so I don't want to do it again. Is there any way to skip directly to the download (once you've gone through the preliminaries)?

If you think IE sucks, use Firefox

.

Since you've already registered, you can go to http://www.sidefx.com/download [sidefx.com] to get any of the publicly available daily builds.

Alternately you can go to http://www.sidefx.com/apprentice [sidefx.com] to download the current Apprentice version. There's no difference between the builds you get from either place, it's just that you have to be registered on the forum to access http://www.sidefx.com/download [sidefx.com]

hmm!
Thanks guys for trying to help me out..but it still doesn´t clear things out.
Lets try again.

Running on windows xp 32bit

Therversion I have right now is the very first Apprentice non commercial
Houdini 9 open publik beta version 9.0.653

When updating from inside Houdini it points me to all those different downloads..non of them is stating that is specific for the apprentice versions.

Maybe it works like this..It doesn´t matter if I download the production update or the daily builds?

Could that be the case that after installing those builds it Automaticly recognize the proper License format? and installs the licens accordingly?

so it doesn´t really matter wich version I choose between xp 32 bit
version 9 upgrade releases?

No matter what build you download, you'll always be able to use Houdini in a non-commercial Apprentice mode. We don't differentiate between commercial and Apprentice builds of our software – the only difference is the license.

Today's builds seem to be broken, the build for XP 32 bit has 0 bytes. Either try to download the production build (9.0.747) or wait until a newer set of builds arrive.

been spending a whole day trying to follow a tutorial with no luck.
and trying to figure out if it´s something in the early beta release didn´t
get me anyware since it seems to me that I can´t download the updates.
huh..well another day perhaps if I don´t give up.

Hi,

It's unfortunate the functionality was different in the first beta version after the video was created. However, Robert Magee explained it in this thread [3dbuzz.com].

You don't need the latest build so just download the Production build (9.0.747) like Dragos said & you should be able to get going.

Cheers!

Yes, today's build went bad (for everyone) because a machine ran out of disk space. Our production build will never have that problem, so I suggest you stick with the production build.
