Is 3D Buzz now totally ‘Member Sponsor Only’ ? When I go to the Houdini forum at http://www.3dbuzz.com/vbforum/sv_houdini.php [3dbuzz.com] it takes me to this page: http://www.3dbuzz.com/vbforum/sv_info_ms.php [3dbuzz.com] about member sponsorship.
Or is that just because of the site rebuild right now?
Thanks.

no need to be a member sponsor just to get to the houdini classroom, because the site is going through a redesign, some parts arent working as they should, links are different. etc etc.
This thread should answer most of your questions about 3dbuzz

Hmm… one of you says yes you now need to be a ms, one says no.
That's useful!
I just meant for reading the Houdini forum posts. Right now, I can read the topic, but not the messages. I would suspect ‘under construction’ is the right answer, but I thought someone might know more.
Anyone else?

There's areas open to those that merely register, and there's areas open to paying members. There's also specific areas open to those that purchase certain instructional DVDs. To get at the regular Houdini classes, like Thinking Procedurally, AFAIK it's free. The Python-Houdini class asks that you become a paying member @ $35/month. It's actually rather good - it expects you to know Houdini and have a solid Python grasp(a Intro to Python is coming), but it actually implements something kinda useful - Set Driven Key a la Maya. You also have access to a large number of other tutorials for other packages.
I was pleasantly surprised, hadn't been a member before and was expecting menu walkthroughs.
Cheers,
J.C.

Yes, I know all that-as I mentioned above “I just meant for reading the Houdini forum posts.” Up until a few days ago you could read the posts on the Houdini forum. Now when you click on the thread topic title, it takes you to a MS info page instead of to the thread itself.
Thanks anyway.

Here is what Jason has to say at 3D buzz:
“Currently, everything (including forums) is locked down to Member Sponsors and classroom students. I figured this was better than locking everyone out until we are done reworking major parts of this site… and I honestly do not know how long that will be.
In the meantime, I'll continue to produce content for this classroom - that is, of course, if you guys still want it.
Once the site opens back up, this room and the videos will once again be freely available to everyone.”
Except of course for member-sponsor content like the Houdini/Python videos. There will probably be more MS content coming for houdini therefore everyone should consider signing up. Plus it is a great idea to support Buzz since they won't be able to keep creating free content forever.
Jason also posted a teaser video showing some of the content coming in the Houdini Technical Director DVDs they are producing:

The website is under construction at this moment to everything is a little whirly. Currently I am not a member sponsor (I will be within the next month or so considering their training is top of the line and well worth the money)… but I still have access to the the Houdini videos and forums. I just downloaded a video yesterday.
As of today this is the Accesible Houdini forum: http://www.3dbuzz.com/vbforum/forumdisplay.php?f=269 [3dbuzz.com]
For some reason you can't access it from the main page.
While you're there check out the teaser to the upcoming Houdini dvd: http://www.3dbuzz.com/vbforum/showthread.php?t=164688 [3dbuzz.com]

Yes, I know as this was previously mentioned in this thread above.
Didn't you read the thread first before replying?

My apologies. I must have missed Robert's post. I figured that since 1.) you were getting different answers and 2.) you couldn't read the actual posts… that I would post a link to the actual thread where the posts could be read.
p.s. Disregard if my post was not useful.
