Ambient Occlusion +transformation/deformation blur +contacts

Hi there,
I'm having trouble getting the contact-shadows to blur when I render ambient occlusion through a GI Light.
I tried both transformation & deformation blur, but I'm mainly interested in deformation blur.

This should be dead simple, what am I missing?

Be sure to add the rendering parameter “Raytrace Motion Blur” to your ROP. Then everything will work.

Wow, that's obscure.
