I am wondering where I can find tutorials of anykind on setting up the Stereo Camera Rig in Houdini for this type of 3-D? I am looking to move beyond Anaglyph. I have an box that connects to non lcd tv's with wired shutters that I am going to look into seeing if I can get it to work with my Laptop for that type but I am mainly looking into the Non-Shutter type.

The work flow is the same, the main difference is the output, for Real D you have to encapsulate you image sequences in a custom format that Real D projectors can understand.

There is some documentation:
http://www.sidefx.com/docs/houdini10.0/nodes/obj/stereocamrig [sidefx.com]

to specify the way the stereo pair is presented on the screen you can check out the display options:
http://www.sidefx.com/docs/houdini10.0/ref/windows/displayopts_3d [sidefx.com]
http://www.sidefx.com/docs/houdini10.0/ref/windows/displayopts_image [sidefx.com]

For a passive (non-shutter glasses) in Houdini 10.0 you can use Horizontal Interleaved mode but you will also need a special monitor with alternately polarized pixel rows (eg, Hyundai W220S)

Thanks guys for the links and info. I am also wondering if anybody knows:
1) If there are projectors that can be used like a presantion projector for this.
2) If anybody knows if it is possible to print out still frames: i.e. as a poster and be able to use RealD/Anaglyph glasses?

For projector slide presentation your best bet is anaglyph format. If you try to use any light-polarization format, you will need a special projector (with stereo polarization capability) and a special “silver” screen (sprayed with aluminum to preserve polarization). You can always rent an IMAX auditorium

The same goes for printed material: you will need to stick to anaglyph. Just composite an anaglyph image from L & R images and print it using regular printer. The color spectrum should be reproduced close enough to use the same anaglyph glasses that you use for the monitor.

I found this while searching: Sharp® XR-55X DLP Projector it uses Shutter glasses which is fine by me because that is what the TV's and Blu-Ray Players are using so it's a plus for me in that department. I also checked the website for that converter that I purchased that was for CRT's only and they are still selling the newer model of the one I have which is for CRT's only(For the price you can get for LCD's now-a-days).

We have an Acer H5360 DLP projector for presentation use. It does 120Hz and works nicely with e.g. the Nvidia shutter glasses. The price was about 700 euros, so probably about the same in dollars. Cheap. 720p only, though.

Just be careful. The 3D TVs are new and there is no syncing standard among the glasses out there. So, the shutter glasses that come with the TV will probably work only with these TVs. Most likely they will not sync with your projector (unless it is from the same company as the TV).

If you use nVidia 3D vision glasses, they will work only with the nVidia graphics cards. The following link also lists the compatible displays (and eetu's Acer H5360 is among them).
