@Dazzer123
Hey, to be honest I've been out of it for a while…
I've been making music and I've been working on Blender as well..
Now I'm back to Houdini and I've got some Houdini books as well so I'll start again and hope this time I get more deep into the software,
I've been trying to avoid VEX but it's one of the core components of Houdini that you can't avoid and I've got a whole book about just Sop and Vex so I'll try to get through the tutorials on the book and properly understand Vex.
and I hope this time I get hold of the software. I think I had to take a step back for a while…
Now there's a lot more tutorials available, and I've learned to use the same version of Houdini that the tutorial uses so I don't get confused with the changes as well..
I mean it might take a few goes before you proper get into it
But I really hope I proper understand this software this time..
I've got a friend that does Unreal Engine now as well and I help him out with rigging characters, he does a bit of coding and he told me I can ask him if I have any questions about Vex. He told me it's not as complicated as it seems.. and that there are not that many things to remember in the language so you don't have to remember a whole lot of things.
That encouraged me to give it another try as well..

Hello So I followed the Waterfall Tutorial from 2012.
I went until caching the white water but then the white water appears as spheres…
How can I fix this please…

I want to make a realistic waterfall in Houdini 16. The only tutorial I can find is the one from 2012.
Are there any suggestions to make a realistic waterfall in Houdini 16? I know it is a difficult subject.
I am also trying to use Blender since it is easier to use. But I think Blender's fluid sim is not powerful enough so I am thinking of getting away with the smoke sim, if I use Blender.
Thank you very much for any suggestions in advance!

For those who are still wondering, I found out a way that is probably common sense for most people but still is very useful for people that are still figuring it out.
The way of doing it is possible with Houdini using the constant shader.Thanks.

Thank you very much
I just tried alembic as well but the result was the same…
I do prefer fbx as I can import multiple materials on one object, like the head.
Later on when I import different face expressions as blend shapes it will be easier…

Thanks very much!
I am still struggling with this issue.
fbx doesn't seem to work well so I might try obj but I don't know how to export geo's that have several materials on them. It all becomes one.
With fbx files the render disappears even if I use clean or facet SOP's.

I thought it fixed but after trying to apply materials the render view disappeared again. Every time I copy and paste everything to a new project it renders properly but when I make a new material and apply it, it disappears from render view and from then it doesn't render anything no matter what I do.
Maybe I should try importing in obj files instead of fbx?

Here is the file with just the head and eyes which are most likely causing the problem.
Thanks!

I have this in my viewport but nothing shows in the render.
I previously posted a similar question with the same object as obj files and the geometry seemed to be corrupted so I fixed it in the previous one.
Thanks in advance!

Thank you very much! I can understand most of the parts but I have some parts that are difficult to understand.
What kind of role does the “resample” sop do in this case?
I am a real beginner in Attribute Wrangle and VEXpressions. (I try to avoid using it normally)
What is this doing in this case?
Thanks again!

I am trying to somehow achieve a flower field with wind in Houdini 16.
I have done until grouping the fbx file copied flowers and line copied grass with the red an black gradient color so they stay still at the bottom but I can't seem to find a good way to make it act like it's blowing in strong wind. I have tried all the noises in the attribute vop with a “add” to position. But they didn't look really good.
Then I noticed that the mountain sop has a element size option to it. Is it possible to somehow “add” the mountain sop to the position as it does in the attribute vop?
Also I am trying to make the flowers bend without distorting the actual shape.
Thanks a lot.

So I am back again in Houdini trying to do the same thing with a simple flower field as shown in the picture.
I want quite a strong wind effect so the vegetation bends a lot. Is there any way I can achieve this please?
Thank you in advance..

Hello Konstantin Magnus,
Thank you for your reply
I am trying to add a vertical red gradient to the vegetation but the flower's color doesn't change. Do you have any suggestions?
Thank you very much I will attach my file as well.

Hello, I made a flower field with flower modeled in blender and grass and ground made procedurally in Houdini.
I made the grass using lines copied onto points and the flowers are files packed and copied onto points.
I want the whole vegetation to have a wind effect bending to the right and left.
I tried the “bend” node but the ground bent as well. Also I tried using curl noise in the attribute vop but only the ground seemed to react.
Can anyone help me with this?
Thanks!
