Do you want to do it as a standalone cmd? Expression or will it be an OP?
You can have a look at the traverse.C from the HDK samples, to get the nodes, then you can run through every geo, get the gdp and then use the function
gdp->primitives().entries() to get the number of polys of each geo.

I have nt seen how looks the DOP gravity. But if I understood your question,
you want to connect different geo to your SOP. Let say A and B
You have to add the number of inputs you want, when you declare your OP
void
newSopOperator(OP_OperatorTable *table)
{
table->addOperator(new OP_Operator(“sparticle”,
“Simple Particle”,
SOP_SParticle::myConstructor,
SOP_SParticle::myTemplateList,
1, // Min required sources
2, // Maximum sources
0));
}
then you loop through and you collect the GDP of each input
src = ( GU_Detail *)inputGeo(current_obj, context ))
If it answers your question I go into details.

The Y (green bit) is the up vector. But are you using the up Vector in POP to adjust the up vector?

I am not using DOP too much but in POPs in the collision POP there is a parameter “collision tolerance” which allows you to do that, I guess DOP must have it.

Well, there are plenty houdini users in Canada, I know personaly Toronto, and I think CORE will be your best bet, but there is MrX as well. Coming from OZ and arriving in Canada in October, if you dont like the cold, Vancouver should be smoother. There too there are some studios using Houdini.

Houdini Lounge » Display Prim Normal automatically...

1) Primitives selected from the menu on the left
2) Type S to select
3) Bang, primitive normals are displayed and well I dont want them on, and no way to turn them off (except going to the display options), not even using the Prim Normal on/off on the right of the viewport.
My question is why are they displayed automatically and secondly, is there an option/setting to prevent this. Cause if I have a complex model, selecting few primitives becomes impossible.
Oh, and It is on Linux and Windows, different video cards.

In POP?
1)You can use the CREEP POP
2)Make your particles collide with the surface then use the COLLISION POP and the option slide.
in SOP you have the CREEP SOP as well.

Just because I am French and I like to complain! When switching to the motion Viewer, it will switch my network panel to CH>CH1… well it is not a big deal, but if it could stay where I was ( inside my current chopnet ) it would be great.

Accurate Births
Recook source geometry before emission of each particle.
This ensures particles are emitted from the correct location when the source geometry is animated. If the shape of the source geometry does not change, you should turn this option off.

Well it says in the exhelp that only works in a pop node. So it may be the reason why it doesnt work in the Textport. I modified your hip file by adding a new attr POP and using the poppoint expr and if you check the spreadsheet, it will work.

Well, if you want to export particles, there is Mark's PDC exporter, if you have a mesh, you can export a serie of OBJs or using the realflow DSO.
