Houdini Indie and Apprentice » Stick One Object To Another in Vellum

Hello, I'm relatively new to Houdini. Just playing around with Vellum, which is amazing, and can't quite figure out how to get an object to stick to another. In the demo video you see the rubber toy stick to a spider web- this is the basic gist of what I'm trying to do. Is it the Glue constraint I should be using? Any help much appreciated!

not sure what you mean by obsolete, I downloaded the scene and seems to work fine in H16
FEM hasn't changed that much in terms of workflow since H13, you should be able to learn the principles from any tutorial
maybe start with H13 FEM masterclass: https://sidefx.com/tutorials/h13-masterclass-finite-elements/ [sidefx.com]
Well maybe obsolete is a strong word as yes the file does work. What I was referring to specifically is that the way the shelf tool builds an “Organic Mass” object has changed and I don't know where to put the Ripple node in order to have the solver take it into account?

Hello, I am new to Houdini and I'm curious about the FEM tools, however the only tutorials I can find are for the H13/H14 tools. This one- https://vimeo.com/118445782 [vimeo.com] -shows how to generate animation with the Ripple node and have that incorporate into the sim, but with H15 it appears that method is now obsolete. Could someone help me with how to adapt that method to H16? Also any leads on good learning resources for FEM are welcome. Very much appreciated, thank you!
Houdini Indie and Apprentice » Export UV's from a VDB mesh made from a FLIP fluid

Brand new to Houdini and followed a tutorial to melt an object using viscosity. Anyway the file generates a UV map in the geometry phase before it gets sent to the DOP network, I can see the UV's deforming in the viewport but I can't figure out how to export them into my Alembic.

I am having the exact same issue with the capping, I have to say I've yet to encounter a Houdini tutorial that actually completely works either due to v14, or to the instructor just moving way too fast, although its true it does make for some good problem-solving I guess. Anyway I would like to know why the capping on the column is completely messed up, here's the file-

your work is fine. :-)
the main reason was that the viewport needs some changes that you can see it better….
1. in the Viewport press d and go to the tab: background and set the Color Scheme to dark
2. Disable Display Points on the display options list
3. Select the Display Flag to the Attr Vop.
i just enabled the Attribut in the copy sop -> Attribute
Excellent! Thank you. So then then the Attribute VOP is backward compatible with the VOP SOP, which makes sense

Ok thanks, here's the .hip file
In the meantime, I'm having trouble finding a link to download apprentice v13, if you know off hand maybe you could share it with me?

Hello, I am brand new to Houdini (C4D user migrating) so I'm watching some video tutorials to get used to the environment (loving it so far). I've run into a problem however- tutorial I am on right now is v13, and uses a VOP SOP, which after googling I know no longer exists. I tried using the Attribute VOP to recreate the steps- basically changing the ‘Cd’ of an array of points one at a a time, and then visualizing the points using an ‘Add’ node with ‘Particle System’ checked. It is not working
Through my rudimentary knowledge and reading the help file I can infer that the data is not being received properly because the Att VOP runs in a different context… is that correct? How can I get this to behave the way I want it to?
Thanks!
