anyone?!
maybe I didn't make myself clear…
what I read on the odwiki wasn't very explicite.
http://odforce.net/wiki/index.php/LightAndCameraProjections [odforce.net]
I don't get how I'm supposed to assign the camera I want to the texture projection.
I'm really stucked here
and I don't get why this operation which is very simple in Maya or Nuke is getting that kind of proportions in Houdini.
thank you everyone
regards

hi,
I'm wondering how I can bake a texture projected from a camera.
I read on odwiki something about VEX, but since I totally suck at shader writing it's more than a pain…
I'm looking fro a simple similar operation as “load texture map as projection” in Maya's hypershade if you will
for now I'm projecting using a uvTexture SOP but I want to bake the texture following the Polar UVs from the UVproject SOP.
Anyone has an idea??!
thank you!!!

Hi,
since a while now I haven't gotten a chance to render an image sequence: when I fire up mantra the 1st image renders and then nothing
I've had this issue before which I used to solve by deleting the “houdini 9.5” directory (snow leopard)
but now with houdini 10 I can't find this directory anymore
I have tried several times to unistall and install again but nothing changes
does anyone have a clue?
many thanks
cheers

Technical Discussion » repeted crash when rendering an image sequence

Hi,
I use Houdini 9.5 HD on OS.X and I have this crash happening very often when I try to render an image sequence
the first image renders fine and then … nothing, houdini gets stucked (no matter project I am into)
the only way I found so far was to delete the Houdini9.5 directory and create a new one launching houdini again (and I of course, have to re-set up all my users setting)
does someone have an idea of what is happening in this Houdini9.5 directory??
besides a few setups of the UI I use one of the downloadable color scheme.. and that's pretty much it.
thank you guys for your time

hey
ok so I tryed via gwavefront with no result
I mean it wasn't able to read the file
but I also downloaded the model in C4D format (which worked well in C4D) and converted in wavefront with C4d and now it seems to work in Houdini (I get all the polygon groups and everything)
maybe the file was corrupted, but I also tryed to convert a .obj file which was working great and gwafront “wasn't able” to save it in .geo or .begeo
sooo.. I dunno hehe
but I can read the model in Houdini now so that what matters
thank you for all your answers anyway and I will keep looking up for thoses standalone applications with more interest
thank you all
cheers

thank you for your interest…
I would love to try all this but I'm absolutely not familiar with those functions
I've been trying for like an hour to figure out how to run gwavefront, I can't find any help, I mean readable help by someone who is not a programer…
where should I start? buy a book about linux language? (if this is linux language)
I can see scrolling down the help page that houdini is full of utilities but there's nothing telling the basics about them
if you feel like helping a noobie :-)
thank you guys

yeah I load the geometry in a file SOP and nothing happens
I use apprentice HD actually, this project is for personnal training so I just can expect help from turbosquid or you…
I know you can't really fix it but I was just wondering if I oculd get some info somewhere like in the textport or something, so I can send a bug report to turbosquid to help them to fix that.
what kind of format can I use besides .obj and fbx by the way?
is there a trick to import .ma or max objects?
thanks for your support

Hi
I just purshased a car model in obj format and Houdini can't load the geometry
it only tells me “unable to read” the file
how can I find more infos about that, so I can explain the turbosquid online help to figure out the issue
thank you for your time
(ps: the file is 45Mb so I don't think it's a good idea to upload it for testing)

hmmm, I'm not sure to get it
i appened a delete sop after dopimport as you told me ..then I put the popnetwork in the “pattern” of my “delete by pattern” option (am I right so far? )
I played around with the others attribute like changing the “geomerty type” and thoses kind of things but it doesn't seem to change anything
am I forgetting something important?!
thank you for your reply by the way

actually the problem is more tricky than I thought
so everythng works fine , but I can't get rid of the particles guides, they appear as spheres in my render .. I don't get it ….
I don't see any options for those
do you see what I'm talking about?
thank you
cheers

thank you guys for your replies
I tried with the squishy object which will work perfectly for my purpose.
I'm working on a little issue during rendering now but it's the right method for sure
thank you again

Hi,
I've been playing around with the cloth system applied to a sphere in order to make a balloon colliding with the ground
(i'd like to make it like The Ball in the tvshow The Prisoner actually)
the thing is that after looking up in the “material” tab of the sphere in the DOPnetwork I still don't really get how to achieve the behavior of a realistic rubber (for instance the geometry won't really get back to its initial shape if I want it to bounce)
I don't really get the difference between the shearstiffness, the stretchstiffness , and if I should use the plastic hardenning or plastic flowrate and so on. And the range of values I should use
anyway I would really appreciate any advice about this or maybe someone here allready have achieved this effect …
all answers are welcome here
thank you guys
cheers

Hmm, I'm so sorry Edward I got rid of it as soon as Houdini worked again
I'll download those assets again and see if the problem shows up again
in this case I'll submit the directory
sorry haven't thought any second someone would be interested in it
regards
(ps: I'll be more carefull with thoses things starting from now…)

Ok Edward !
ok it works now, thank you so much
I had downloaded a lot of assets just to have a look at them, maybe some of them were corrupting something, I should have thought about this
thank you so much guys for all your answers

I think the last thing I can try is to format and reinstall my system …
thank you for trying anyway
i'll let you know
