There is definitely some way, there must me some file sharing service accessible from inside Iran, right? You could check it out among your friends, and tell us so can put stuff there for you.
How about CGPersia? (cough…, cough…,)
skk.
yes that is accessible. not filtered(yet) but it doesn't have it's own server's. people put rapidshare links and things like that there.
rapidshare and bytesbox.com are not filtered now. but i don't know about the future. and apparently rapidshare has lifted many of the limitations for free user's too(but i don't am not sure). so that might be an option too.

nearly everybody has access to anti proxy softwares. the problem is that the speed is reduced considerably. i personally use tor.
but the situation with torrent is a bit different. although torrent search sites like torrentz.com are filtered but after getting the torrent file(which is very small and downloading it through a proxy is not a problem at all) you need no proxy to download the real file.
i also think that torrent imposes less problems for SESI servers.(but that might be true when there others who spare the bits too.)
i don't think there is a list of all the blocked services. i think it is a process. everyday some new sites are filtered.

thank you very much. no it doesn't work. i press download anyway after it says the file cannot be checked for virus. but then nothing happens just the page gets reloaded.

that is very kind of you. but i don't want to trouble you. i just wanted to know whether there is any links somewhere else. i'll try using some anti proxy software although they're very slow.
many sites put their stuff on torrent so that people can download them without causing trouble for their servers. but i think because 99 percent of houdini fans have access to vimeo SESI finds it unnecessary.
thank you anyway.

thanks. i like this trick more than the skin. i have used your idea and altered it a little bit to make it shorter. download the hip file to see it. but i am not satisfied yet. for one thing we have 10 points in the origin which bothers me somehow.
1. how can i merge them into one point?
2. we have several methods for creating the circle, i understand that some of them are an open circle but why haven't they added a UV circle too? i am not trying to say that houdini is bad, i am just trying to understand what limited them in doing this, and understand the circle node better.

thanks. skin does the trick. but it is kinda time consuming. i was wondering why circle doesn't have a V? grid has both U and V when it is a mesh . and it seems very natural to have a V for a circle too.

that's exactly what i am talking about. because there is no V i can't extract a surface from a circle, just a curve can be extracted.

as i understand it in houdini circles have just U, and have no V.
so how can i extract a part of a circle like the red area in the picture below?

can chops do this thing?

hi. i have a question that is not directly related to houdini but more about the process of making an animation.
how are sounds created for an animation. suppose we have a scene in which a truck passes. are the sounds recorded or created using a computer software?

thanks. uh… i feel so much better now. and thank you for explaining why it is hard to explain houdini's nodes.
actually i am a mathematician myself and know what you mean. and know how hard it is to have a feel for more general and as a result more abstract things.
Best

thanks tamte. i know that F1 brings up the help in houdini, my point is that the explanation is not enough. i am sure i can learn more about align using the example file and asking in the forum but that is not the point.
what i am saying is that the harder the process of learning, more beginners will quit. so if if the process of learning align is “study example file and ask in the forum next time you are online” (instead of press f1 and read the help) then many will quit.

Align: Aligns a group of primitives to each other or to an auxiliary input.
this is all the information there exists about what align node does in houdini documentation(there is actually some more, but those cover technical points). is it possible for someone new to 3D to understand it?
isn't the above sentence written with a professional user in mind and not a beginner?
I know there maybe tutorials covering this node, and there are some nice videos in 3dbuzz, but i am talking about the help of houdini.
in every software; you don't understand a tool.. you press F1 and you find out in no time what the tool is supposed to do. there is also a tutorial section in the documentation of all notable 3d packages.
1. is this ever going to be fixed? i mean is there some plans for improving the documentation to cover the needs of noobs?
2. doesn't houdini lose so many 3d beginners? for not paying enough attention to such matters?

sorry but i don't see where the compilers are mentioned. in that link i just see the list of the operating systems on which houdini runs, not the compiler with which houdini is developed.

hi, i was wondering how 3d applications like houdini are developed?
for example which programming languages, compilers etc are used to develop houdini? for example is it 90% developed using microsoft visual c++ and OpenGl?
