Funny. I was looking at that exact same machine (from the same supplier) a little while back, but i ended up with this instead: https://www.komplett.no/product/853773/pc-nettbrett/pc-baerbar/gaming-pc-er/asus-rog-g752vy-173-fhd-matt-g-sync [komplett.no] but with 64gb ram and 2tb for the second disk. It's not as pretty as the Predator but it has a 8gb 980m instead of 4gb on the predator and a little (ca 10%) faster processor and better cooling. And it ended up costing about the same as the predator demo your linking to.
You can do pretty complex stuff on these machines, but the fan will be running when you push it

I dont think this is a Houdini spesific problem: https://www.google.no/?gfe_rd=cr&ei=Ne9SV6SEApKr8welt7nQDQ&gws_rd=ssl#safe=off&q=api-ms-win-crt-runtime-l1-1-0.dll+is+missing [google.no]
Looks more like a Window updating problem.

Hard to say what's wrong with your setup but make sure that what is entered in your houdini.env file is actual paths that exists on your harddrive. I just installed 20.9 on OSX and this is what i have in my houdini.env file.

What is the result when you run “echo $HOUDINI_DEFAULT_RIB_RENDERER” in the textport?
On osx the result should be “prman”

Put an if inside your foreach and put your logic in the if? Then it should only process if “true”

Hi.
Dicide on one of the instances to be the master, right-click on the float paramter, select Copy Parameter, then go the each instance and select the same float, right-click and select Paste as relative reference. Houdini should fill in the value field with a path to the “master” parameter.
Or you can make a null SOP with a float parameter and make that the controller and have all the instances refrence the float on that null.

So this image is applied to the grid as a pixel texture, or is this a procedural shader?

Do you mind uploading the file? Kinda of hard to tell what makes it take 6 mins. to render. Rendering a simple grid on my MacPro takes 8 sec for 800x800 and 52sec for 3000x3000.

The VEX node also has a group field. Enter the name of your new group there and the VEX node will only operate on the points in that group. Another way would be to use an if statement in the VEX node to test if the incoming point is a member of the group or not. Group membership is just an attribute set to either 0 or 1. Take a look in your geometry spreadsheet.

Try to group the selected points, and then specify the name of the new group in the transform nodes group field.
