Well I've tried the suggested changing permissions but still get the same errors. Never had this problem in H10, seems to be new to H11.
The errors I'm getting seem to be very different from the ones in that odForce thread.

I'm trying to compile some hdk sops on a mac with H11 and I get the following errors every time
None of the errors are in the source code they seem to be in the Houdini framework, what gives?

Use an ends sop to unclamp in U and then a basis sop set to uniform (off the top of my head without checking it)

You might want to look at the resample sop for the middle one.
And possibly the refine and basis sops for the bottom one.
And possibly the refine and basis sops for the bottom one.

The biggest problems we've had is with CAD models at very high precision, when they come in even to Rhino you get failed trim curves, that gets worse once imported into Houdini. Can't comment about what would happen if you are building from scratch in Rhino.

I think you just need to do all your projections first and then apply one trim.
But you are basically right Houdini Nurbs lack accuracy and need some love.
Not expecting it to happen though. Your best route for complex models is via rhino.

Can I suggest when you upload these videos you also put them on you tube or break them up into smaller chunks.
Vimeo has the enormous limitation that you can't skip ahead. So if you can't watch the whole thing in one sitting you are basically stuffed. Given the length of things like the master class videos that is pretty much impossible. And even if you can spare 3 hours at a time to watch one if it freezes half way through you have to start all over again….. not to mention wanting to go back a review a section. Even when you do have it all downloaded Vimeo will still freeze and give up letting you scrub around.

There is a third way. Make a circle in the same plane as the polygon, (you could ray it on) then use the hole sop to join it to the outer polygon.

looks like a self shadowing artifact, do you get the same thing with shadows turned off?
If not then try turning up the shadow bias on the light, maybe the default in H11 is lower.
