Hi guys,
How can I animate a curve (the shape of the curve)? Is there a tool to make some control nulls where the points from that curve are?
Many thanks,
Adrian

Hello,
I have a particle system that has the role of debris. I also have 5 objects that represent small fragments. What I'm looking for is a way to instance those 5 objects randomly on to the particle system. Plus on collisions the particles system should react based on the instance shape.
Any help would be great
Thank you,
Adrian

Hi guys,
What the difference between caching a simulation using the options on the DOP node (cache and explicit cache turned on) and using a file node at the end of the simulation tree inside the DOP network.
Thanks,
Adrian

Technical Discussion » group dynamic objects based on impact

Hi guys,
I'm looking for a way to create a group inside a DOP that contains objects that have collided with other objects. The group should update with new objects that have an impact.
I see in the details view that when there's a collision an impact attribute is created but I can't figure a way to use that attribute together with a group dynamic objects.
What I basically want is to apply gravity only to the objects that have a collision.
Many thanks,
Adrian

To many have got tired and lost motivation when they discover how time consuming it was to pull of that…(insert huge effect of choice).
Been there, done that
Yeah that's a great advice

I am no expert but you can try to increase the Diffuse Limit on the PBR sub-tab of the Properties tab in the parameter editor to have a value of at least 1.
More info here: http://www.sidefx.com/docs/houdini11.0/rendering/pbr [sidefx.com]
That's how I always use global illumination.

Thanks for the reply guys. I was comparing the performance with my old desktop that has a 4 years old nvidia with 512 ram and a lower CPU. Both in Windows and under Ubuntu runs better that on the MBP.
I'll keep digging

Hi guys,
I'm experiencing low view-port performance in Houdini Apprentice under os x 10.6 on the new MacBook PRO 17".
The new graphic card is this: AMD Radeon HD 6750M with 1GB GDDR5
So I was wondering if there's anything I can do to make it run faster or if I just have to wait for a daily build to fix this?
Many thanks,
Adrian
