Hi,
I use a IndirectLight for my render.
I created a photon map on disk I want to use it to light my scene but when I untoggle the Auto-generate Photon Map button, I loose the indriect lighting.
I though that unchekcing Auto-generate Photon Map allows the indiret light to use the .pmap file from the photon_map parameter to light the scene without the need to recreate amap ofr each frame.
Obviously, I am missing something.
How I can use my pmap to light all my animation ?
Thanks for your help;
Vincent

Technical Discussion » python filtering script doesn't work anymore

Hi
I wrote a filter script for mantra command …sometime ago.
import mantra
import sys, os
aPath = os.path.dirname(os.path.abspath(sys.argv))
filePath = aPath + ‘\shad.txt’
mFile = open(filePath,'r')
mLine = mFile.readlines()
sPath = ‘op:’ + mLine
#give this : opshop/myshader
def filterCamera():
mantra.setproperty('renderer:renderengine','raytrace')
#print ‘Renderer’, mantra.property('renderer:renderengine')
def filterInstance():
#print ‘Filtering:’, mantra.property('object:name')
mantra.setproperty('object:surface', sPath)
mantra.setproperty('objectverridedetail', 1)
mFile.close()
All shop are declared but mantra give me a exit code 1 .. even if use directly a shader path instead of the spath variable …
Used to work fine … sometime ago.
Thanks for your help.

Hi,
I am using obstacle and path in a crowd sim.
When my particles get close enough to the obstacle they barely stopped.
So,I would like to know how to setup a trigger to make the agent motion transition from walk to wait and when the particles get more velocity to have a transition from wait to walk.
I joint a little scene.
Thanks for your help

Technical Discussion » Question about shop_materialpath

Hello,
When I use a material sop and get a relative path to a shader, I noticed the shop_materialpath attribute is still absolute.
I tried to force the relative path to the attribute but then, the geometry can't find the path to the shader anymore …
Can someone give me explanation about it ?
thanks
Vincent

Hello,
I am just watching Jeff LAIT's masterclass about granula solver.
https://www.sidefx.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=3149&Itemid=412 [sidefx.com]
There is an anim of sand falling colliding tube and getting dry at 34min25.
I wonder how to make continuous emmision of the particles.
There is no example like this in the project file associated and my first attempts have weird result and unstability.
Thanks for your help.

Following examples on the net, I made something like this :
root = hou.selectedNodes()

def recurLinks(n):
for i in n.outputs():
link.append(i)
recurLinks(i)
return link
I don't know exactly how but … it seems to work !

Hello,
I don't know if i can explain that in english …
I would like to make wire simulation of a mesh . But I wan't to use a kind of copy system to add copy of the mesh to the sim.
Jus look to hip file. You should understand better what I want to do.
Thanks for your help.

Hi,
I would like to erase some polygons comparing their edges.
If the difference between the size of the shortest and longest edges of the polygon is over a threshold then the polygon is deleted.
Thanks for your help.

Technical Discussion » Question about "setPixelsOfCookingPlane" python me
- vbk!!!

Hello,
the help show this method like that :
setPixelsOfCookingPlane(values, component=None, interleaved=True, flip_vertically=False)
i don't know how to use the component argument. I assume this is one of the channel of the image to cook ( R V B or A) but I can't get it to work.
The main goal is to generate an image possibly with one channel (grayscale).
For the moment I fill each channel with the same value to obtain grayscale image. How I can I fill only the red channel for example or create an image with only one channel/component ( if it is really the same thing).
thanks for you help
