Hi,
I'm having an issue while using the fireball shader. When i use it and twant to re open my scene, it displays opening error: problem while synchronizing child node and skipping unrecognized parameter.
Already tried with a new scene, same error and deleting the Houdini 13.0 folder, still got the messages.
Any ideas?

Here is an example showing how to use the RBD keyframe active. It's equal to using the tic when the object is created.

Do you mean passive object? If it's the case, you can use a “RBD keyframe Active” node to switch between active and passive state

Find better about the scale. But I have one question: can we use pyro cluster on only one computer? I know that these can be used to distribute the farm but can we use them to divide a bigger container in smaller one?

So I should work at real scale or should I try to give the impression of scale? (here, if I understand you correctly, the meteors are travelling way too fast)

I'll now use this topic to post the principal projetcs I'm currently working on.
So, after learning the main concepts of each kind of DOP sim, going to make a project in which all of these are together.
As I'm learning fx and Houdini at the same time, expect to have a lot of questions on it
So, enough talking, here is the previz (trying to get the sense of scale and timing before refining each sim)

this expression might works:
if(($F>20)&&($F<30),($F-20)*0.1,0)
The sign && indicates is the equivalent of “and” in English terms, so it will be true only if the frame number is greter than 20 and less than 30.

My first WIP posted here Here is the description of the effect I'm trying to create (didn't find any videos showing this kind of effect). An object beneath the ground smashes the road and break it apart.

Still need to add the ground deformation beneath the cracking, and refine the dust coming from the debris (raise too much)

Hi,
I'm currently following the Light, Shade and render tuto (which are great by the way) but I'm currently running into an issue.When I want to create a light different which type is different of a line or a point, I got my geometry which dissapear.
I downloaded latest Houdini build and my drivers are up to date.
Win7 64

Hi,
I'm learning flip simulations but in my scene (a bridge falling into water), i always run out of memory around the frame 85 whereas i have only 12 mil particles.
I already tried to cache the sim files by setting an explicit cache dut it didn't work.
Could someone explain how to avoid these problems?
Here are my computer specs:
core i7 3930k
16 gig ram

Hi,
I'm currently a french student in a 3D school and I'd like to specialize in fx at the end of my studies. As my school is more specialized in animation, I'll have to learn it mainly on my own. So, I started to learn Houdini but because of my lack of knowledge in fx, I don't manage to do what I want.
So, do you have any advice to learn the basics of fx? For example the transformation matrix, quaternion, mainly the maths which can be used behind any fx.

Hi,
I want to do an object deforming the ground and fracturing it at the same time. So I simulated my cloth object to do the deforming ground and create a fractured ground in order to make the piece blown away by the object. But after I've done that, I'm blocked and don't know how I could put my fracture geometry back on my deformed ground (I know I need to use an up vector but I don't know at all how to implement this)

I tried adding a new environment variable like you said and it didn't change anything. But switching to “area pick visible geometry only” seems to work as I can select now my components.

I'm currently using Catalyst 13.1 and I already checked to see if no other new drivers were available
