You can do it with some way ,for example Point Cloud !
I made a very simple asset to select random and gradually ,But It's work only on the Points Not Particles !
But It's not important ,You can do same way in the PoP Network Instead Geometry Solver to select Particles.

Usually this message is cause of the your VGA driver !
Update your VGA driver and if it's not solve , temporally change Houdini Scene Renderer to other options like H11 until you find solution !
I have same problem but when I change Rendere Option to H11 it's solved and finally I install another driver to fix it (GTX 570)
To change renderer option :
Edit -> Preferences -> 3D Viewports -> Scene Renderer

Ok my friend, if you absolutely want to print your values in the Textport I don't have a any good idea but if you want to print your values just in any command window like CMD instead Houdini Console ,
You can use Python Shell instead Textport ,it's really like Textport just you should type your expressions in Python and I think it's not really hard !
I attached a simple example for you, just don't forget to open Python shell !

If you need to export geometry animation cache like alembic format and you don't have Alembic Exporter Plug-in for maya 2011, You can export your model per frame with Obj format ( Object Sequence !) and import it in the Houdini
This is Soooooooooooo Easy and simple in maya with Scripts .
I wrote a simple Mel script for you in the attached content
Just select your model and run this Mel script in the script editor to export obj sequence in the C Drive from frame 1 to 24

You should type your expressions in the Pattern instead Filter Expressions !
Because you want to select primitives between two ranges that saved in the string attribute.

I think you should make Digital Asset then define your inputs !
Right click on the subnet ,choose create Digital Asset , then define number of the Inputs

Hi
I made a simple project with flip fluid and attached in below
I use SOPSolver to apply some random color to each point(or particle).
Now I want to do somethings to apply Gravity force just to white particles
for example each particles that is Black stay on it's own position and each particles that has white color fall down with gravity force /
(Gravity Force only affect on white particles )

Do you want to set max number of the Reflect and Refract rays ?
Is it your goal ?
If yes, you can define max ray's number with 2 way :
1.Define Max ray for your Scene via mantra Node
Mantra1 -> Shading -> Reflect Limit & Refract Limit
2.Define different Max ray number for each Object :
1.Select your Geometry Node
2.Open Edit Parameter Interface
3.In the For Rendering Tab find Refract and Reflect Limit in Mantra and add these to Exiting Parameters
4.Close Edit Parameter Interface and in the Geometry Node go to Render -> Shading -> Reflect & Refract Limit and set these parameters to different number

Maybe you have another problem for example Texture's address or frame's number !
Check exactly your Texture's path, it's must be same with below example :
$HFS/houdini/pic/butterfly$F.pic

The Sprite tool in the Shelf works very well, why you don't use it ?!
Drive Particles -> Sprite
And assign your sequence texture to Sprite material in the Shop.

But it's work for me my friend !!!
I made a SkyLight with Sky Environment Map and assign Shadow matte shader to my objects and I can see shadow result in the Alpha channel in Render !
Check it again
