When I upgrade Houdini, should I un-install it first, or just install the newest version in the same directory as the old?

The new build will install itself in it's own directory so no, you don't have to uninstall the other build

Ok, but I don't want multiple copies of Houdini on my computer.

You can just install the new version, then uninstall the old one.

heydabop Alright. And that will still leave the documents such as scenes and stuff?Uninstaller will leave files it hasn't placed there by itself, although you shouldn't save anything in Houdini install directory ($HFS). Use your home directory or project specific location.
