Hi- I was wondering how to get Houdini to generate models like this:
http://art.depotvisuals.de/ [art.depotvisuals.de]
You can see the models on the right side
I know for a fact they use Houdini
I reeeally need to find out how to do models like these. I would appreciate help so much!

Sincerely, Finn

Hi Finn,

I would take a look at L system SOP

http://localhost:48626/nodes/sop/lsystem [localhost]

You could start generating curves and start skinning them.

Anyway, just a thought.

that is a link to the online help running on your machine. just open houdini and then help, and search for ‘L System’. this will lead you to the link above after 1 or 2 pages.

i.e. you need to have opened help in order for it to start the help server, after which the link provided above works.

Hi Finn, was wondering if you found the help in the L system?

Another easy way of getting there is creating a geo node, go inside.
tab lsystem
create the SOP
click on the help/question mark button on the bar of the parameters to open help for that item.

there was some discussion on them over here:

and this might help you too:

apart from that it is a lot of sop operations and copy sop, with a good artistic eye.

This might help you in terms of getting ideas of what you can do procedurally:
Have a look at the way Macha does his rocks procedurally:

Sorry to be posting this again,
I was wondering if I could possibly pay someone to make a node based file similar to the above for me?

why not try to do it yourself?

Mainly because I currently do not have the time, while I want to learn this badly to incorporate into my other works, college and studies keeps me from getting to time to work on it. I'll still try, I just think it would be much easier to purchase a file and learn that. I don't want to learn a ton about Houdini, I just want to learn specifically to create fractal-like generated forms such as the above.
