So I just loaded about 30 objects (OBJ from softimage (is there an exporter?)) , but houdini has the file node which just looks where the file is. The geometry isn't saved to .hip. if you move the obj folder somewhere else houdini doesn't find the obj. How do I save to .hip instead of using file node. This should be pretty easy for you, I didn't find anything online.

Also I have another question:

The pivot or the “handle” isn't centered to the object. What's an quick easy way to center it to the object ? or do I need to move the pivot myself manually?
Could this be because loading geometry from file?

Thanks

- Click on the lock (red) flag on the File node. This will cause the node to never recook and save the geometry in your .hip file.

- Try the Center Pivot shelf tool. (I think it's under Manipulate)

Hey xsiman, are you asking for an exporter of objs too? Use the geometry rop node to output an obj from any place in your network. You can even create a node fr each one of your 30 objects (that output different objs), select all 30 nodes at the same time, then hit the render button
