I thought this would be easy converting .osm to .obj, I found the open street map pages and downloaded the .osm format file, but although I'd gotten the impression it would be straightforward it appears it's not. Anyone know where I can get something that will take .osm data and convert it into .obj (or houdini friendly format) preferably in separate layers (roads, buildings etc)? Much appreciated.
I can't afford the ‘building cities’ tutorial (weeps).

I don't think so…. sidefx also supports other sites with tutorials with twitter and Facebook messages.

Just for information cmivfx has at the moment a 70% discount.

Many thanks, glad to hear this :-)

This means: 40$ - 70% = 12$
if I'm right
and the tutorial is very good in my opinion, but if you buy it, please read:
http://forums.odforce.net/topic/16614-help-with-a-cmivfx-tutorial-houdini-xml-based-procedural-cities/ [forums.odforce.net]

and if you follow the tutorial carefully, you can extract informations how to
build an basic SVG importer ;-)
