Hello there!

I'm a new Houdini user coming from a Renderman background. So far I'm really digging Mantra.

One quick question I had was if there is a way of getting smooth UVs on subdivision surfaces in Mantra, more specifically smooth UV boundaries like the ones found in PRMan when using the facevarying attribute.

Here's what I'm getting in Houdini using the Subdivide SOP with ‘Matnra-compatible Subdivision’ turned on.

Notice that the borders aren't smooth and introduce stretching which makes the surface a lot harder to paint in 2d.

Here's what I'm looking for (taken from UVLayout on the left and Mudbox on the right).

I know there are tons of hiden Mantra parameter for geometry objects but I unfortunately haven't found what I'm looking for just yet.

Also on a side note, seems like it's not possible to bake textures on subdivision surfaces using the Mantra > Properties > Render > UV Render Object. Is this right?

Thanks!

Bump. We are experiencing the same problem.

Did you submit this as a bug?
