Hi,
I was working on optimizing scene and noticed that mantra, batch or mplay, is slower than render panel (with prview off). Is this true? Why?
Thanks
Dose mantra exe slower than insede Houdini app?

Both mplay and Render panel use same mantra node , So render time must be same in both.
Maybe in some special scene with specify lighting , rendering engine , material and objects ,render times are a little different , But not very far :?
I tested it in a simple project witch contain too many spheres with skylight and “Mantra Surface Shader” and Render time in both are approximately same .
Check this file and check render time for both “mplay” and “Render panel” in the “Render Scheduler” window .
I take below result in my system :
Render panel without “Render Preview” option : 0:33
Render panel with “Render Preview” option : 0:49
Render in mplay : 0:34
** Maybe this little different is because syncing time Houdini to mplay window **
