Curious as to why I can see in my viewport and render geometry with 0 alpha?

The setup works as expected until I add a point sop to randomize the colour. Then the alpha seems to stop working as expected. (is visible)

How do I randomize (or otherwise control my colour) whilst keeping my alpha?
Again I'm sure I'm missing something blindingly obvious but can't quite suss it.

Hi,
Ive looked at your file and both branches render with a zero alpha , the only difference is the “look” in open gl .
