Not sure whether this is a bug, or a setting/pref that i'm missing somewhere.

I can somehow get houdini into a particular ‘state’ which draws multi-input sops as single input. If you jiggle the node, the approporiate number of inputs reappear.

Have a look at a selection of multi input nodes drawn incorrectly:

I see it all the time. Not reliably reproducible though

As a point of interest, in an attempt to get this narrowed down, I see this occurring most often when I MMB on a node output, then tab-complete a node name, followed by the enter key to drop the node down.

Would LOVE to get this pesky little thing squashed.

Reproducible by:

Geo, dive inside, delete file, add box
MMB on output
Press space
type “attr”
Mouse click on Attibutecopy
Press Enter on NumPad

I get this too, ever since release 12 - I chalked it up to the same OpenGL issues that I've been so vocal about recently, but maybe it's unrelated.

Yes this is an ongoing issue, happens to me 100% of the time using Copy SOP for example.

Drag and Drop turns itself off.

Tooltips turn black.

In fairness, Halfdan has spent quite a bit of time trying to track it down with no luck.

Unfortunately, the longer these things persist the more it feels like Houdini is accumulating a lot of papercut annoyances

It's reported and is being attended to currently:

Drag and Drop turns itself off.
Whats the drag and drop issue and we'll try to hunt it down?

Tooltips turn black.

Thought the Tooltips was fixed/screensave issue. No issue on OsX to test with.

Looking at other 3d softwares, Houdini stands up very well. Compare it to something like MS Word and it's brilliant! - apparently the code is so large that no one person can read it all and there are bugs from the original version still in there. No one knows what will happen if they touch it so they don't

SESI is very aware of all these issues, I've done screen-share sessions or screen-caps to show all of them. They've been in there for a couple of years now.

You are correct though, Houdini 12.5 was extremely stable and hopefully there will be a 13.1 or 13.5 that is a stability release too!

Cool - let us know if you want others to also submit the drag and drop bug. and the steps to make it happen, it might give more weight to getting it fixed.

Cool - What is the drag and drop bug?

I don't think I've seen it.

Thanks!

On Linux, DnD stops working, and you have to Always On Top then turn it off, then DnD starts again…

Cool - might have to see if others get this across all Linux distributions. OsX works so far, but I know it's not the answer
