Frome moast iknow Houdini folks are all pro's working all day i guess
cause all the boards all over the web is empty! not a single Houdini user to find! or is it just me? id realy like to learn Houdini but got a little scared away when i could not find people using Houdini!. So whats the real deal anyway?
I'm in the progress of starting a little production company in Norway focusing on
comercials, animation and special fx etc. We are 4 people including myself
and we are planning to launch or company this year
Considering we are 4 people (today) im wondering what other studios have to say going the Houdini route? as $$$ is our main consern we cinda whant everything in one package!
Is it posible to take the tools for a spin with some guiding along the way?
Houdini, Did i miss the big bang?

Well, yup, lots of us are busy, and one of the most active forums for Houdini out there just happens to be down at the moment after an unfortunate holiday attack - www.odforce.net . It's coming back up soon.
For evaluation, sure, check out the main Sidefx page, Learning/Houdini Apprentice. You can download a complete evaluation version - there's a few more advanced features missing(such as renderman support) and the renders have a watermark, but otherwise it's the way to evaluate it without costing anything.
Cheers,
J.C.

Hi to all,
I am familiar with Lightwave and Maya and now I downloaded
the Houdini Demo…..
No doubt, it's a very exciting programm, a little hard to get in when comming from other 3d apps but I start to like it.
Just a little question: are there any galleries showing me some
renderings used in commercial projects with the integrated Mantra Renderer?
I clicked thru some of your profiles to check but saw just some
hollywood quality stuff…. Because I am a one man show, I would
like to see some “one man galeries” to compare.
Thanks for any advice!

I think you might find some stuff on odforce.net in the gallery section but I think that will be up after a little while as they just switched servers.
