UV Packing Area

Hi.

This is one of a plug-in for 3ds max for Uv edit. the great one. and it's got really good function for packing with UV-area.

I really want to mimic this function with Houdini to make my works more procedural.
I think Houdini's UV-pack node is already close to the result if it had setting for area values.

So, is anyone have idea to do this?

Hi Kylun,
non square layouts seem not to be possible now, but you can produce multi udim tiles.
My textures are 5 by 1. So i create 5 udim tiles and then shift the uvs so they go from 0 to 5…
Its just a work around and non square packing would be a great improvement.

You could use an external uv generator. See this thread:

UV packing to user defined rectangular areas is definitely possible. It's a feature embedded in uv-layout SOP. just watch this quickstart video:
