NO UI Icons and ....

when houdini started, all UI Icons disappeared and peformance is very very slow. already I have done OS re-install and VGA Driver change, delete “\my document\houdini9.5” folder, but problem remains.

other programs using OpenGL all fine. Autodesk Maya, Shake, Nuke…etc everything all fine. BUT ONLY HOUDINI IS PROBLEM.

why?

please help me :cry:

CPU : AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual 5000+
RAM : 4GB
OS : Windows XP sp 3
VGA : Nvidia Geforce 8600GT 512RAM
VGA Driver : Nvidia Release 182.06
Houdini version : 9.5.350 & 9.5.379

There was a bug in the installer that has since been fixed. You can fix this problem by first quitting Houdini, running the following command in a shell and then restarting:

sudo chown -R `stat –printf=%U:%G $HOME` $HOME/houdini9.5

Wasn't that a Linux specific bug though?

He appears to be on Windows XP.

Hmm, I'm not sure what the problem is then. Try deleting all houdini9.5 subdirectories?

Try also today's H 9.5.397 build.

yeah just delete the houdini9.5 folder from the My Documents folder and restart houdini

problem remains….

I have tried that :

1. vga driver change
2. OS re-install
3. tried new version of houdni, 350, 379, 397, 398…
4. delete my document\houdni.9.5 folder

but

problem remains….

what can I DO?

or any Idea?

Under the Nvidia driver is 3D accleration enabled?

And at the risk of sounding obvious, shouldn't it be an AGP card? Perhaps you have some system mismatch going on.

yes, 3D accel ON and my VGA is PCI-E Card.
other program using openGL all ok, Autodesk Maya, Shake, Nuke, etc…everything all fine.

but ONLY HOUDINI is problem.

I'm slowly going crazy. :x
