Thank you, that's an interesting solution, though not exactly what I was looking for. But definitely worth knowing.

Wouldn't it be easier to do this with a group?

Hello all,
I'm trying to pass detail string attribute with edge pattern (p1-0 p2-3 etc.) to group field in dissolve node, but it doesn't work. Anyone has an idea why?
Edit: it works if I just manually copy and paste the pattern string from detail string attribute I've created previously.

Technical Discussion » Dissolve random edge

Hi fellows Houdinistas.
I want to dissolve random edges on triangulated surface with even edge lengths. If I try to use a sort node to randomize + group node to create edge group there - it creates edge group with random polygons edges (all connected edges on one triangle) selected. Is there a way to select some random (not connected to each other) edges? Any way to access edge group in VEX? Houdini 15.5 here.
Thanks.

For particles pscale is used for collision detection. The bigger it is, the bigger the offset to the collider. Your pscale starts at 1 and gets lower with age, which explains why you see those steps and the big offset. Simple fix: inherit anything but pscale in your particle source :
* ^pscale
Thanks, very welcomed solution.

I seems that I found a reason: there was Adobe After Effects CS4 running in background and that caused the problem. It seems that AE CS4 occupies OpenGL's resources very aggressively.

I have the same problem. My graphics card is NVidia Quadro FX 3500. It is 100% compatible with OGL 2.1. But it is not compatible with OGL 3.0 or 3.1. Could it be the reason?
