Thanks for the response (and the project file) Unfortunately I wasn't able to resolve my problem even with the file. I'm going to try and go through the melt effect part of the tutorial again and see if I can resolve it that way. Thanks

This question is meant for someone who has actually completed this tutorial. Upon trying to finish the melting effect, I ran into an issue where the legoman's viscocity isn't being set correctly. I have followed all the steps in the tutorial, and have come to the same result multiple times.
We are using a beam to transfer viscocity to the point in our legoman, however we start with a viscocity of 0, so our legoman melts to the ground, when he should remain stationary.
Theoretically, the legoman should start at a high viscocity, with the beam removing viscocity at the contact point. It seems like the tutor has reversed this process, starting with no viscocity and having the beam add it. This process seems backwards to me.
If anyone could provide any information, I would be deeply appreciative.. Thanks for reading.

Technical Discussion » Houdini Points not displaying properly

I have gone through multiple tutorials, and at certain points, when the time comes to view my points in my scene, they don't display properly. Within the tutorial, the points appear white as soon as, for example, a scatter node is viewed. However, this doesn't work for me. The only way for me to view the points is by displaying points in the viewport. Then the points are displayed as blue. By default, within the tutorial, it appears that points should be viewable as white. If you have heard anything about this issue, please let me know.
Thanks!

Technical Discussion » Debris System cache file size

I have followed and completed the debris systems tutorials successfully multiple times, however each time I run into the same problem. Near the end of the tutorial, in the last 10 minutes, when it is time to perform the final cache, the cached file is HUGE. In a 300 frame sequence, every frame is approx. 2+ gigs. Houdini still performs well with that major file size, but I feel like something must be wrong. Has anyone else had this problem?
Thanks.
Thanks.
Technical Discussion » Texture Offset and Scale for Sprites
- Midasssilver

I have a basic emitter, emitting particles upwards. I can successfully apply sprites as the image for the particles, I can rotate and scale those sprites, I can tie them to expressions, etc. But when I try to enable the texture size or texture offset parameters, the simulation disappears. Any ideas?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Whenever I am working with sprites, as soon as I enable Texture Offset or Texture Scale, my chain breaks. Other parameters of the sprite node work. Does anyone know why these tools don't work? I want to tie the offset of a image to an expression, but these parameters don't seem to work. Any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks.

Hi! I've been stuck on this problem for a while, and have been unable to find help, here or anywhere else. I am correctly able to apply an image to my sprite, however when I enable the texture size or texture offset parameter, the animation breaks and my sprites disappear. Can anyone help? Thanks!

Hi there! I'm a new Houdini user, so please excuse me if this is a newbie question, but I am going through the Digital Tutors Dynamics Training, and I need to assign a PNG sequence to my sprites. I am successfully able to assign the texture to my sprites, but then the texture size contains the entire png, as opposed to only 1 frame of the 8 frame sequence. The instructions within the tutorial tell us to use the following parameters in the sprite node:
Texture offset: ceil(fit01($LIFE, 0, 7))/8 $STEXV
Texture size: 1/8 $STEXW
By changing the first value of our texture size to 1/8, we are supposed to be assigning 1/8 of our png sequence to the sprite texture. Unfortunately, no matter how I change the texture size and texture offset parameters, no changes appear on my sprites. I'm really stuck, so if anyone has any ideas, i'd definitely appreciate the help.
Thanks!
