I've made one frame pyro scene for testing.
Nvidia 2060 super
XPU:0m 30s
ACES color space is enabled.
Maybe I had to do something heavier :S

Did anybody do a pyro test with XPU?
In the Houdini 19 HIVE presentation Adam Swaab shows how to render pyro with XPU which is by using the new pyropreview material but I can't make it work.
Any ideas?
You need to convert all Houdini volumes (Density and Scatter at least) to VDBs with Convert VDB node.

01:24 XPU
(01:07) second try
Threadripper 3995wx
Titan RTX
2080 Ti RTX
beautiful thing to see all threads on all devices maxed out
I'm pretty curious about CPU rendering results on threadripper 3995/3990. Can you share, please?

I'm not sure but you can try to use Timeblend node with evaluation time set to "By time" or "By frame" and multiply the parameter by independent time variable from python.

Andi FarhallTheoretically we're living in the future, why can't we get a new release before others???
Curse that time difference between Canada and England!
Solaris and Karma » Why not a dedicated Sop Create?

Sopcreate is intermediate development stage of an asset. Like in obj context where sop asset often end up with file cache and OUT null then loaded into clean dedicated obj node through file or object merge sop. In solaris SOPcreate should end up with Usd export SOP then be loaded into scene through Reference or Stage manager LOP to speed up scene and avoid any unwanted changes.

It seems we should report it as a bug.
Temporary you can use non-uniform scale in LOP camera parameters to get similar effect but it will work only with manual camera animation, not with path constraint for example (at least without attribute hacks).
Also, even if it will be fixed, it will work only in render time, same as other karma tab parameters, so I think ortho camera requires farther development and maybe an RFE.

I think h19 reveal video showed that Solaris is going to be whole UI subsystem to speed up set dressing: scatter and placing brushes, quick lighting setups and controls, straightforward constraint presets, assets management library, functional tree (sub)object manager, render agnostic scenes and shaders, non-destructive layout iterations with layers.
The software just not at the point yet, because at current state it is a technical release. For non tech enthusiast it's better to think that there is no Solaris at all until it suddenly come out on a white horse as finalized product, or more wisely start to discover the new context little by little.
I bet SideFX put enormous effort to bring a set dressing to next level without breaking existing pipelines.
Besides (just by looking what they did with pyro preview) I hope that in the future ogl viewport will evolve into something that gives results with quality very close to final render and it will be not necessary to press render button till last production stages.

Regarding visibility you need to enable/disable guides in display settings

It seems those ogl wireframe guides are pre-built by devs for different primitive types under the hood of solaris.

You can use SOPCreate node with Control node inside, unpack the geo ether in sop or in SOP import settings (Primitive Definition - Packed primitive - Unpack) and then hide it from render by setting Purpose = Proxy/Guide token through Configure Primitive LOP.

If you meant to create curve for following then there is node called Follow path constraint. It's requiring a curve imported from SOP context and any object.

I'm pretty interested how XPU would be scaled over cluster. It's multiple cpu, multiple gpu or both at once, Hm...
