hmh.
ok. I try again, with a simple box, and it was the same… a lag, and activity monitor showing “non responding” state. This time it was less than a minute, but still too long. There were no dialogs, and houdini ui is default one. Also, if that can help, I don't have any eyecandies turned on in Leopard, in fact I turned off everything that was possible, to make it more simple and fast.
Is there anything I can do to show some diagnostic of the problem?

It lasts forever (1-2min), and each time houdini enters the “non responding” state.
I do the right-click > save geometry command. In the end it exports obj file, and everything is fine, but it's rather too slow.
Geometry isn't too complicated, just a simple plane distorted with several different procedurals.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
dj.

well I'm still on 9.5.265 and all “whitening” problems are still very, very rare, and in general, I just have to press tab once more to make things work again.
no freezing when placing nodes, never (hope it'll stay like that)
and edge selecting is working just fine…

well, I also have one macbook pro, and I was excited to have 64bit sys with 4gib of ram, bla, bla… but, a big but.. it looks like only cinema 4d and modo works almost without problems (talking ‘bout 3d apps)… maya is a crap, and houdini is unfortunately full of interface bugs. And it’s not because of sidefx but because of apple… Hope that will change soon…

Same problem on macbook pro. It happens from time to time. I wonder is it because of houdini or because of os x….

When I render a test image on local machine I get “good” picture.
When I try to render it with mantra -H render1, render2 (network computer names) command i get “bad” picture.
It looks like it is some problem with paths, but I cannot find a solution.
Thanks in advance,
djordje

still no progress
Is it possible that I have to install something that does not come with winXP installation? This is super fresh copy of xp (64bit) and maybe something essential is missing…

hmh, I deleted icon cache file, and it's the same. I reinstall houdini, and no good.
By default installation goes into Program Files folder, there is one more Program Files x86 folder for 32bit applications. I guess, since this is 64bit version of houdini, problem is not about that.
I am downloading 9.1.193 right now to see if anything will change. Maybe it is a problem with 64bit winXP?

Hello to all.
I just installed last production build 9.1.179 for 64bit windows and here's whats happening (I attached screen shot). Also every operation, click, whatever is super sluggish.
Sys specs are:
winXP pro, 64bit, service pack 1;
Core Quad q6600
geForce 7900 GT/GTO (latest drivers for xp64bit , 169.21)
Any ideas what can be wrong?
Thanks in advance
dj.
