when you install make sure to select “apprentice server” and not the liscence one,
after installation select “i have a paid liscence” and insert your login and password

thanks for proposing help circusmonkey,
i posted in the general discussion just to rant, as it was late and i was really tired.
I was looking to see if other had more problems since h12.5
I just love Houdini, the problem is that i have no access to a school, as i am working now, even with tutorials, forum etc..it is very tedious to learn that software, and sometime nerve wreaking.

i imported thru dop import field my flip sim when i render i get a block of smoke insted of particles.
in the dop network the flip is normal(as particles)
any idea?

For the past 2 days i have been struggling with houdini, kept debugging over and over, having non stop crash hanging awful viewport and so. on
Now i am checking my cache and it is humongous for no apparent reason( a 100 frame box exploding -_-.
i reopen files and it gives me errors out of the blue.
I have been doing this many time without issue and recently i am having more and more problems with houdini.
It took me 2 days to blow up a simple box at awfull speed, i ve done that 100 times earlier without issue on big sim
every build i get worst and worst problems(with me at least)
should i go back to an old version 12 maybe?

i gave up on metaball and used custom force field, same result with no problem in viewport.
Also i fixed the ghost object by shifting to H11 viewport..

when i am in my object i have 120fps in wireframe mode,
while in dop node i go down to 8 fps with metaball, and 60 fps without

OK i found that all those issue are related to the imported metaball in the sopgeo in dop, the framerate issue as well as thing disapearing in the view port….

seems to big an opengl BIG issue since things do render, while dsiapearing in the veiw port

i am doing a rbd sim,
i encountered a problem i never saw before
evreything show normally in the dop net, but when i preview with the imported dop, suddenly the sim disapear at a random frame, even thu when i dive in the dopnet it is still working/visible
I also have terrible framerate when viewing in wireframe mode in the dop net,
2 fps with titan….
never had that before also, i am using metaball/force in the dopnet

So i am trying to create my own shader, i am just unable to find how to add OGL option like the mantra surface shader
I looked in the parameter interface but wasnt able to find the proper options
Also if you have any tips or tutorial about that matter would be welcome as i have zero knowledge of the openGL setup

oh ok so when my scene is all black it isn't cause geometry is gone but it is because everything is shadowed..good to know
