Houdini has been around for a very long time and nowadays nobody even records videos just on procedural modeling and it has already changed 10 years ago. They only cover what's new.
I have 10 tutorials bought on Houdini and I was interested in special effects back then. And now - after 10 years I need procedural modeling and I just see that all the material in these video courses is already 10 years out of date - EXAMPLES DO NOT WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

To the developers - start recording the basics again - otherwise it is hard for people to migrate to the new houdini with outdated video courses

I think they assume some aspects of Houdini are easy to understand just because it’s been there for years, but there is not much good information out there for beginners, I agree

Houdini has a very fast pace of upgrading nodes / workflow changes that is a problem for documentation and tutorials. It helps the houdini artist with many new tools but for beginners that learn houdini with no technical skills is very hard.

Every beginner in houdini needs to understand the core concept. The best is to Download the older houdini version as the one in the tutorial that you use for learning.
Use tutorials from sidefx and the houdini documentation helps a lot specialy for beginners.

If you're looking for the absolute fundamentals of interface and geometry manipulation I'd recommend this free course from Fraser Shiers at Hipflask:

https://www.sidefx.com/tutorials/the-core-essentials/ [www.sidefx.com]

If you're more into FX Houdini Course [www.houdini-course.com] by Chris Bohm is highly regarded.

Developers already know the basics so much that they have lost true understanding of the current state of affairs - the basics are as inaccessible or difficult for beginners as they were 20 years ago for devepoers themselvse.

Something that should be accessible even to beginners is being civil in forums when people are trying to help you.
