Hi,

Who can explain Sections and Categories for me?

Has anyone used categories yet?

Ah! I knew I'd get something from you Michael.

Sections- as in hda sections. I know you use them but I don't know how they are structured or what is in them.

Categories - ? ah… I'm assuming it's a way of grouping “things”.

Sections are just a fancy name for files embedded inside a HDA. Nothing more than that really.

You can always use hotl -x to extract an HDA and basically it dumps out all the files and a section_list.

Sections were helpful at render time weren't they? To help determine what was seen by the camera and for culling?

nope, I think that was something else - might have been called ‘sections’ but didn't have anything to do with OTL internals…
