should have posted about this last week…
Autorigs seemed broken but it's actually a change in the behaviour of nulls/bones when ‘Keep Position When Parenting" is ON and there are no keys/channels present.
In versions of Houdini prior to 17.5 the offset would be sent to the pretransform of the child node - leaving the local transform alone, however in 17.5 the offset is applied to the local transform - unless there are keys/channels on those transforms.
In the Autorigs, we’re building nodes, parenting, setting positions etc and all that works as expected with the prior behaviour - but the effect that the new behaviour in 17.5 wasn't caught until after the release. I'm currently addressing this now.
So for any new rigs - please use the latest version of Houdini 17.0

and if you have any code that builds object hierarchies - please check that this change doesn't bust all your stuff.

thanks

thanks Michael

but even with H17.0 and using the guides without almost any adjustment (just scaling the main control) , it says error trying to generate the rig.
