how to render .exr file with passes?

is there any way to render exr file with passes? such as normal, diff, amb, reflection, shadow?

Not in Houdini8.

However, you can render out layers to separate exr files, we do that all the time.
And as Jeff teases, you can't render multi-layers in one in Houdini *8*.

how to render out layers to separate exr files? ^_^ I tried to enable it under deepraster tab, but the exr files are all 0kb…..

Works for me. Apart from setting the bit depth to half-float, these layers are what you get as default once you set your output image to “exr” and add some popup layers. Cheers, J.C.
