Hello all

I found this way to build the squeletons, probably there are better way, i don't know, im open to suggestion
I have been stucked on my little experiement for a while on something i have always have pain with actually.

I build a similar system in VEX , now trying with Kinefx.
What im mainly missing is to properly orient my piece. I have already define the pivot and the squeleton, so i guess it should not be that hard but....

Here's my setup at this stage...

Any solution or suggestion from other fresh minds will makes my day

without looking at the file, this looks like Find Shortest Path on a Dual Mesh

I also updated one of my old setups to use KineFX. It really simplified the unfolding part.

Wow how smart! I could sincerely said you literally made my day. It will take me some time, and probably another coffee to digest some vex lines, but brilliant. Off course go divide dual is much smarter than trying to figure out the centroid of each piece, and you even manage to get rid of the silly stash node of the kinefx skeleton...
I always learn something when looking at your post, being isolated right now just with Houdini beast, I can thanks you enough for the teaching

You are welcome,
sorry for some VEXy parts, it's mostly for more robust pivot and axis management since that's important for your case where pivots have to be on curved borders between pieces and aligned correctly
hopefully it's still understandable

Oh i did expect the Vex hot pan cake. I like using VEX, but was not familiar with that case and confuse how to approach it.
As said, you even manage to avoid using the skeletons node and have to stash it everytime.

It's working pretty well. I start to get confused when dealing with large part, like with cluster. The disconnection on the pivot point along the coincident edge is getting too evident. I was expected this
Maybe in some case some vellum glue constraint on these part could give some interesting effect, after i don't see other idea

that's what im talking about there

I have fun trying to use a network constraint with it.
