When I unwrap something with "uvpelt" I get very strange results.
With a basic sphere it only unwraps the top part when I select the horizontal center edge loop as an "edge cut group".
And when I try it on the pigs head it's the same. It completely ignores my edge selection and just unwraps a small part of the geometry.

uvpelt broken ?

UV Pelt SOP only unwraps a single uv island
use Hint Primitive to specify a primitive, uv island that that primitive belongs to will become the "pelt" and will be attached to the frame and stretched

toonafishUV Pelt is using very old technique (first added around 2003 H6.1.82) made specifically for this, it dates way before other flattening or automatic uv unwrapping techniques
Ah, of course, why make something like uv unwrapping easy when it can be fiddly.
Thanks.
so you can call it evolution
you can ask yourself why use UV Pelt when you can use UV flatten and get less distortion and all islands unwrapped
UV Pelt has still it's uses as you can stretch something using a custom frame, but nowadays I wouldn't use it for general uv unwrapping
