Hello,

I am a bit confused, does karma xpu in houdini 20 support the background plate lop? The docs say that background plate lop is supported by xpu, but the material inside of it is vex based, which only works with CPU.

If you see my two photos, the photo that shows no material in the sphere is of course the xpu version. What do the docs mean when it says background plate is supported? Are only some features supported?

Thanks

The material is inside an editable subnet, to allow users to modify it if need be. This means a Background Plate LOP created in a 19.5 scene will retain its VEX based material when the hip file is opened in 20.0
You'll want to recreate a fresh Background Plate LOP to get the XPU compatible material.

I did make it in houdini 20. The whole scene was made in houdini 20.

Try updating your build, not sure if it will fix your issue but may be worth it
